With nothing but a map Leo & me decided to explore parts of the Himalaya north of Kathmandu Valley by hiking for nearly one month.
On our way we hiked through plenty of small villages full of miracles of an old traditional way of living.
Tiny buddhist monasteries, old ceremonies we could participate in, as well as Lhamas of a buddhist community.
Many refugees from Tibet made their way to this preserved area of Nepal.
Escaping China’s suppression … in order to practice their religion freely!
Our way brought as close to the Tibetian boarder, which is literally a natural border defined by a mountain range.
People face life under enormous circumstances due to unpredictable influence of nature.
Nature defines the way of living.
Nature there surrounds you completely & is incomparable powerful.
Within minutes weather can change dramatically.
Farmes face harsh circumstances to make a livelihood out of their harvest.
Buses go their twice a day, fully packed with people on the roof.
I remember very well sitting on the roof squeezed by arms and legs of a bunch of people & having a chicken, packed in a bag, lying in my arms while being horrified of the roads the busdriver was supposed to manage …
On our path we were lucky to discover abandoned relics & artifacts of ruined huts.
A good thing to be thought by the mountains is to realize how small & meaningless we are in comparison to their eternity. But still we re messing around with this wonderful planet, EARTH. Good lesson to question our daily actions.
Thanks for stepping by.
